Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubber

scrubber-740The Heil 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers are designed to effectively remove corrosive, noxious and /or nuisance gases, mists and particulate from process or ventilation air streams. Although similar to the countercurrent packed bed scrubber (Series 730) in outward appearance and applicability, the Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubber utilizes perforated plate trays instead of packing to enhance the gas/liquid contact.

As the entering gas travels upward, it passes through a perforated tray where it contacts the scrubbing liquid on the tray surface. The size and quantity of perforations cause the gas to vigorously bubble through the liquid, increasing the gas/liquid contact time and intimacy of contact. The type of contaminate to be scrubbed and the desired removal efficiency will determine the number of trays, the irrigation rate, and chemical requirement.

Prior to leaving the unit, the scrubbed gas passes through a mist eliminator (Heilex EB 4-Bend Mist Eliminator Blades or mesh pad). The gas is then exhausted to atmosphere.

Series 740 Applications

740 - Sieve TrayHeil Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers in general can be specified and used in place of conventional packed towers in virtually all gas absorption applications. In addition, the Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers have been specifically designed for removal of particulate matter and mists (3 microns and larger) which may be present along with a gaseous contaminant. This unit is also ideally suited for the production of concentrated by-product solutions, i.e., scrubbing of HCL gas to produce a concentrated acid solution up to 20%.

Using a once-thru flow of water the Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubber is also highly efficient in the removal of organic vapors both soluble and insoluble.

Series 740 Features

Sieve 740Principal features of the Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubber are:

High efficiency – Proper sizing of the unit, selection of number of trays, and irrigation rate can result in efficiencies of 99% or higher. Standard units contain 2, 3 or 4 trays; however, all Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers are custom designed to meet the specific requirements of each individual application.

Low initial cost – Pre-engineered standard designs are available in capacities to 56,500 ACFM.

Low operating cost – The Series 740 Sieve Tray design permits operation in a once-thru liquid mode at low flow rates. This reduces water consumption to a minimum and may eliminate chemical addition entirely. Also, since a recirculation system is generally not required, power consumption is also reduced.

Versatile – The Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers are designed to handle a wide variety of applications. Multiple staging of different scrubbing processes can be easily accomplished and arranged within a single unit.

Extended service life – Corrosion resistant materials of construction, Rigidon FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) is standard, and provides a long service life in highly corrosive service conditions with a minimum of maintenance.

Series 740 Equipment Selection

The principal data required to properly select a Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubber for a given application are gas volume to be ventilated, type of contaminant present, and required removal efficiency.

Heil’s engineers will gladly assist in the selection of a sieve tray scrubber as well as sizing and selection of auxiliary equipment, such as, pumps, fans, chemical feed systems, etc. to make a complete system.

Heil’s engineers will then provide a specific quotation on the appropriate scrubber and/or system.
