The HEIL 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers are designed to effectively remove corrosive, noxious and /or nuisance gases, mists and particulate from process or ventilation air streams. Although similar to the countercurrent packed bed scrubber (Series 730) in outward appearance and applicability, the Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubber utilizes perforated plate trays instead of packing to enhance the gas/liquid contact.
As the entering gas travels upward, it passes through a perforated tray where it interacts with the scrubbing liquid on the tray surface. The perforations, of a particular size and quantity, cause the gas to vigorously bubble through the liquid, increasing the gas/liquid contact time and the intimacy of contact. The number of trays, irrigation rate, and chemical requirement are determined by the type of contaminate being scrubbed and the degree of removal efficiency.
HEIL Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers, generally, can be specified and used instead of conventional packed towers for any gas absorption application. Additionally, the Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers are specifically designed for the removal of particulate matter and mists 3 microns and larger that may be present along with a gaseous contaminant. This unit is ideally suited for the production of concentrated byproduct solutions, such as the scrubbing of HCL gas to produce a concentrated acid solution up to 20%.
Principal features of the Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubber:
High efficiency – Proper sizing of the unit, choice of the number of trays, and irrigation rate can result in efficiencies of 99 percent or higher. Standard units contain 2, 3 or 4 trays, however, all Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers are custom-designed to meet the specific requirements of each application.
Low initial cost – Pre-engineered standard designs are available in capacities up to 56,500 ACFM.
Low operating cost – The Series 740 Sieve Tray design permits operation in a once-through liquid mode at low flow rates. This reduces water consumption to a minimum and may eliminate chemical addition entirely. Also, since a recirculation system is generally not required, power consumption is also reduced.
Versatile - The Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubbers are designed to handle a wide variety of applications. Multiple stagings of different scrubbing processes can be easily accomplished and arranged within a single unit.
Extended service life – Corrosion resistant construction materials, like rigidon FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer), are standard and provide a long service life in highly corrosive service conditions with a minimum of maintenance.
Key factors for properly selecting a Series 740 Sieve Tray Scrubber for a given application are the volume of gas being ventilated, the type of contaminant present, and the required removal efficiency.
